9v9
9V9 stands for handcraft, repetition, and patience—for a way of making clothes that unites design and production instead of separating them. The name, "nueve veces nueve," nine times nine, directly references the rhythm of the knitting machine: the repetitive, methodical work at its core, from which each piece emerges row by row. It's less a brand promise than a description of how the label actually works—everything, from the initial design to the finished garment, is created in one place, by one hand.
Florencia Castillo taught herself to knit in 2014 and has since developed her own design language, in which pattern development, cutting, and technique are created collaboratively, rather than being passed from one design stage to a separate production stage. Each garment is knitted on her own machines in her studio on Brunngasse in Bern's old town, using 100% Italian merino wool. This continuous process—one person, one place, from the wool to the finished piece—is what truly makes each item recognizable as 9V9.
Sustainability at 9v9 stems primarily from its deliberate small-scale approach. Because everything is produced in-house, in small batches, and on their own machines, 9v9 only knits what is actually needed – no pre-production for a season, no leftover stock, no waste built into the process from the very beginning. It's a zero-waste approach, less out of explicit intention than from the simple fact that the label remains small and closely tied to its own production.
At OF GOODS, 9v9 presents a curated selection of their newest and most beloved pieces – deliberately compact rather than showcasing the entire collection. On display are current shapes and knits, complemented by a few pieces that have become classics over time.
