Lamps made from recycled paper

The eco-friendly creations of the Henri Dejeant studio

These lamps, designed by Henri Dejeant, are made from recycled paper in southern France. The goal is to take an eco-friendly approach from design through delivery.

The papier-mâché creations are made using a process called “molding up.” This process uses recycled newspapers, plant flour, and plaster. After the objects are shaped by hand, the material must dry at a low temperature in a drying cabinet. Sanding and applying a polish made in-house from a mixture of beeswax and carnauba wax completes the material’s appearance and preserves the paper it’s made from. They have a raw, smooth look that can take on various shapes. By adding natural dyes, the colors of the lamps can vary while still remaining true to the eco-friendly concept.
